"Great Prince Edward, son of Henry III of" Ramsey described as a "defender of our Order," was the famous Edward I, who was nicknamed Longshanks unusually high growth. Edward I, who became king of England in 1274, is best known for an aggressive war against the Scots first under the command of William Wallace, Robert the Bruce and then. The latter had long suspected of favoring the Templars after the persecution began on them, but Ramsey clearly suspects that Edward was also their patron. Perhaps things were so until his death July 7, 1307, three months before the start of the mass arrests of the Templars in France, which, as readers will recall, took place October 13, 1307.
