Olga Igor continued political line, seeking to strengthen and expand the alliance with the Byzantine Empire. She arrived in Constantinople with an impressive (more than one hundred and fifty people) and the Embassy, ??despite the fact that in its relations with the Emperor Constantine Porphyrogenitus were certain tensions and contradictions, the union was strong enough. Until recently it was thought that the journey to Constantinople Olga took place relatively late - in the year 957, that is, twelve years after the start of her reign. But, since 1981, one of the most prominent modern historians of Byzantium and its relations with Russia, GG Litavrin, overall research cycle  thoroughly proves that Olga went to Constantinople soon after the death of Igor (the end of 944 or the beginning 945 th) - in early summer 946goda.
