We mentioned earlier that the first Christian saints, who gained the highest veneration in Russia, were Nicholas (there is reason to believe that at the end of IX century Kiev Temple St. Nicholas was created) and Elijah (in 940's of Kiev there was a collegiate church St. Elijah). The like heroes (as also discussed) "entered" in Russian epic world. Maybe a little later, but still early enough we found the highest veneration and St. George (the church its name already existed in the first half of the XI century). Almost by accident Vladimir Svyatoslavich christened his born, apparently, in the year 989 (that is, immediately after the official adoption of Christianity) son named George (though it was known by its pagan name - Yaroslav the Wise).
