In February 1949, North Korea asked the United Nations with a request for admission to membership in the organization, but, of course, was refused. The US and its allies, by which the south of the Republic of Korea was established, could not recognize North Korea as the sole legitimate government on the Korean peninsula. It is in such a position and the DPRK claimed that, in particular, has been reflected in the Constitution. In turn, the Soviet Union could not prevent the recognition of the Republic of Korea to the United Nations, also claim to be the sole legitimate state on the peninsula.
