When creating OHSMS (28 December 1978) it was announced the names of 8 members: Ludmila Agapov (engineer), Vladimir Borisov (electrician), Leo Volokhonskii (working), Alexander Ivanchenko (engineer), Eugene Nikolaev (geographer), Novodvorskaya (Librarian ), Vladimir Skvirsky (geologist), Albina Yakoreva (student excluded from the Institute). Soon they were joined by six more: Vadim Baranov (driver), Nikolai Nikitin (driver), Valentin Samoilov (retired) and Nikolai Rozanov (engineer), and a few months later - Natalia Lesnichenko (typist) and Vsevolod Kuvakin (lawyer). But soon the three were arrested (Vladimir Skvirsky, Nikolai Nikitin and Lev Volokhonskii), two emigrated (Evgeny Nikolaev Vadim Baranov), and a few people after a while left OHSMS without much pressure the authorities. However, only Volokhonskii and Nikitin have transferred to other group members. The rest either abandoned them or the group broke up (if they existed at all). The principle of non-disclosure of names of participants made it impossible to record the number of participants OHSMS and created scope for irresponsible statements.
