In the center of Rostov continued fierce street fighting which did not cease for a few days. The operation is described by General Alfred Reingardt, which - at the time, in July 1942, Colonel - commander of 421 th Infantry Regiment 125 th Infantry Division. He tells the story of an extremely bloody street battles in which the Germans had to repel the enemy from house to house, working his way through the barricaded center - these battles, probably no one ever has before been conducted. Such fights have erupted, probably, on the streets of Moscow or Leningrad, if the Germans managed to get there.
