In the summer of 1681 Tsar Fedor issued a decree allowing Nikon to return to his Resurrection Monastery. By this time, Nikon's health has deteriorated. He died on the boat, carrying it back down the Volga, in Yaroslavl, August 17. Matveeva in 1680 was transferred from Pustozersk on Mezen (where life was easier). In December 1681 the king Fedor forgave him, he regained his former possessions and come for a new county in Suzdal. He was advised to proceed to Luh, a town between Suzdal and Nizhny Novgorod.
