Having expelled the Metropolitan Daniel, Shuiskys tried to get rid of Prince Ivan Belsky, imprison him. Some time interfered with their plan new Metropolitan Joasaph, whose candidacy for the metropolitan department Shuiskys approved before. Acting on behalf of the Grand Prince Ivan (he was then ten years old), Joasaph Bedskogo could release from prison, and he became a leading figure in the government. Angered by the head of the clan Shuisky, Prince Ivan, has ceased to be a protest at the meeting of the Boyar Duma. Soon his followers - the boyars and "sons of knights," especially from Novgorod - organized a powerful conspiracy against Belsky and his supporters. At night, January 3, 1542 Belskky was arrested conspirators. He was taken to Beloozero and imprisoned there in the prison (in May, he was killed by agents Shuiskis).
