Ennius A generation later lived Ennius, a native of Calabria, a member of the Second Punic War (239-169 gg.). Among his many works are of particular importance, "Annals," a great work of 18 books, written in Latin hexameters. The introduction of the hexameter Ennius made a major reform of the Latin poetry. The content of the poem embraced the whole Roman history with Aeneas to the last years before the author's death. "Annals" had a strong influence on the development of traditional images of Roman historiography. They are also survived only in fragments (600 poems of 30 thousand.).
